Leeds United had expressed interest in signing Paixao, but it appears they have missed out on the opportunity. The Premier League newcomers had hoped to hijack the deal by making an improved bid, but Olympique Marseille were able to persuade Feyenoord to agree to a deal with them instead.
Paixao will sign a five-year contract with Olympique Marseille and will leave Feyenoord, where he has played for three years. During his time with the Rotterdam club, he has scored 39 goals and provided 23 assists in 129 games.
